Early Christmas presents for some local teams

FCHS vs. SMHS
While many local basketball teams will play in tournaments over the Christmas break, they wrapped up play in the regular season for the year.

On Friday, Fayette County’s boys outlasted Starr’s Mill winning 49-43, while the Lady Panthers defeated the Lady Tigers by hitting key free throws at the end, 36-32. Emily Woodward scored eight points for Starr’s Mill and Simone Heath and Kristene Walker each scored nine points for Fayette County.

Landmark Christian played at Chapel Hill and split. The Lady War Eagles won 57-46, led by Christian Hunnicut’s 31 points, while the boys lost 69-31. Jacob Fasci led Landmark with 13 points.

On Saturday, Sandy Creek swept Luella. The Lady Patriots won 57-38, thanks in part to 25 points from Morganne Campbell. The boys won 62-49. Our Lady of Mercy got swept by Southwest Atlanta Christian as the girls fell 62-26 and the boys lost 83-45. McIntosh hosted East Coweta and split. The Lady Chiefs won 50-38 and had a big night from Erin Justice, 16 points and nine rebounds, and Elyse Chubb, 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Morganne Mitchell chipped in nine points. The McIntosh boys lost 52-40.
