Fayetteville resident’s album now in stores

Fayetteville resident Ann Nesby, who led the Grammy Award-winning group Sounds of Blackness, has just released her latest solo project, “This Is Love,” this week.

Poised to bring soul music forward stronger than ever on today's music scene, Nesby’s career has seen success in every creative field she has entered. As a singer, Nesby has dominated the R&B charts, landing at the number 1 and 2 spots on Billboard's Dance Charts. She worked with legendary soul singer Al Green on a duet for her 2002 release, “Put It On Paper,” which yielded a Grammy nomination in 2003.

Nesby also showcased her talents as an actor with her supporting role in the 2003 musical comedy “The Fighting Temptations” alongside Cuba Gooding Jr. and Beyonce Knowles. That same year, Nesby released Grammy-nominated album “Make Me Better.” In 2005, Nesby was nominated yet again for a Grammy Award for her work on “The Fighting Temptations” soundtrack recording for the duet and Gospel legend Shirley Caesar on the spirit-moving selection "The Stone."

In 2006, Nesby continued to diversify her range as a recording artist with the release of her first traditional Gospel release “In The Spirit.”

Now Nesby is returning to R&B with a collection of ten songs that showcase her growth as a vocalist who can sing and capture listeners in whatever genre of music she is compelled to deliver. Nesby's latest offering, “This Is Love” showcases Nesby as an equally talented songwriter and prolific story-teller through song.

Creating her own successful niche in urban music, Nesby has been able to capture and inspire a diverse fan base with her own unique flair, down-to-earth persona, and relevance in every note of music she sings, from love-inspired R&B to spirit-stirring Gospel to body-moving dance music, all of which epitomize the term "artist" which Nesby embodies so effortlessly.
