• Lorber graduates from United States Air Force Academy

Secon lieutenant Benjamin J. Lorber graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. on May 30 with a bachelor of science degree in physics. Lorber maintained placement on the deans list all four years at the academy and received special recognition from the physics department for which his name was added to a permanent display in the department office. Upon graduation, Lorber was commissioned into the United States Air Force. He is currently attending Air and Space Basic Course at Maxwell Air Force Base after which he will begin pilot training at Laughlin Air Force Base in Del Rio, Texas. He is the son of Michael and Robin Lorber of Peachtree City and a 2003 graduate of McIntosh High School, Peachtree City, Ga.

• Stewart initiated into Phi Beta Kappa

Laura A. Stewart, daughter of Jack and Cheryl Stewart of Fayetteville, Ga., has been initiated into the Alpha Chapter, Phi Beta Kappa, University of Georgia. A graduate of the University of Georgia, as well as a 2003 graduate of Fayette County High School, Stewart is attending William and Mary College of Law this fall. Phi Beta Kappa, organized in 1776 at the College of William and Mary in Virginia, is the oldest honorary society in the United States. It recognizes the top students in the junior and senior classes who have met the requirements for a liberal course of study.

• Russell accepted to Bethel College

Timothy Russell was accepted to Bethel College in McKenzie, Tenn. for the fall 2007 semester. Russell, who is a graduate of Sandy Creek High School, is the son of Michael and Tuesday Russell. While at Bethel, Russell plans to participate on the Bethel Wildcat football team.
