SCAT does well in Georgia

The Southern Crescent Aquatic Team impressively performed at the Georgia Senior State Championships held Dec. 9-11 at Georgia Tech.

Ari Berg, Matt Boyle, Bailey Cartwright, Lauren Cartwright, Katelyn Davis, Josh Day, Keaton Hannon, Katie Haycraft, Cassandra Heimann, Matt Hildebrand, Sarah Larson, Thomas Lucak, David Menchinger, Peter Menke, Bryan Mitchell, Zach Payne, Jim Roddenbery, Nicole Roddenbery, Lauren Scott, and Jared Toro, all Fayette County residents, represented Southern Crescent at the meet. Every swimmer produced best lifetime swims, but outstanding swims were performed by Lauren Cartwright, Payne, and Roddenbery.

Lauren Cartwright qualified top 8 in all of her events along with a Senior National Qualification. Payne qualified for his first Junior National Championships in the 200 yard Butterfly. Roddenbery became the fastest female Butterflyer in Fayette County history in the 100 yard Butterfly with a time of 55.90 seconds (only female to break the 56 second barrier). All three swimmers have the opportunity to compete at the Junior National Championships held the last week of March at the YMCA Orlando Championship Pool.

Lauren Cartwright and Roddenbery both qualified for Senior National Championships held the first week of April in Federal Way, Wash. For more information about the Southern Crescent Aquatic Team call 678-521-9450.
