Sandy Creek’s varsity softball team went 4-2 in the Brookwood tournament and won the Maroon Division.

The Lady Patriots defeated Parkview 1-0 with Candace Dunn driving in the run with a sacrifice bunt. Hannah Braswell and Kayla Folds split the pitching with Braswell getting six strikeouts in four innings and Folds earning four strikeouts.
Sandy Creek followed the win with losses to Eastside (5-1) and Northside Warner Robins (4-1). The team bounced back with a 12-5 win over Wesleyan with Dunn, Meagan Sitton and Kayla Awbrey doing well at the plate and freshmen Blair Byrom and Haley Williams handling the pitching.

The Lady Patriots then closed out the tournament with a pair of 3-2 wins over Collins Hill and Pike County. Against Collins Hill, Sandy Creek rallied in the seventh with two runs for the win. Mackenzie Arlt drove in the tying run and Williams drove in the winning run. Folds was the winning pitcher. She faced 25 batters, allowed two hits and struck out 10. In the Pike County game, Braswell pitched all eight innings and got 13 strike outs. In the international tie-breaker, Sitton sacrificed the runner to third base and Dunn hit a line drive that wasn’t fielded cleanly, allowing Byrom to score.

Sandy Creek also picked up their second region win last week by defeating Haralson County 5-0. Folds pitched a one hitter and struck out 13 batters, while Sitton, Dani Frazier and Megan Kallatsa all went 2-for-3 at the plate.
