“The Fantasticks,” the longest running musical in the world, tells the story of a young boy and girl who fall in love with the help of their meddling, matchmaking fathers, but become restless and stray from each other. This is a celebration of love – first love, lost love, and ultimately, true love. Written by Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones, “The Fantasticks” has delighted audiences across the world. The score features such well-known musical theatre standards as “Try to Remember,” “Much More,” and “I Can See It.”

But why just se a show when you can get involved?

Auditions for Southside’s Christmas show, “The Homecoming,” will take place at the theater Oct. 1 and 2 at 7 p.m.

It´s Christmas Eve, 1933; the middle of the Depression. Clay Spencer has found work in a town nearly 50 miles away from his wife Olivia and his eight children. He’s due home at any moment, but as the snow continues to fall the family begins to worry. While searching the storm for his father, Clay-boy meets friends and neighbors who help him "find" more of his father than he ever knew was missing. Join us on Spencer’s Mountain this Christmas for The Homecoming by Perry Clark, based on the book by Earl Hamner, Jr. This story was the basis for his most famous creation; "The Waltons".

The show will be performed Thursdays-Sundays, Dec. 6-16. Performance times are at 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and 2 p.m on Sundays.
