Jack Conard, 90, Peachtree City, died Sept. 8, 2007. He was raised near Rossville, Ill, son of the late Jonah and Mabel Conard. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Phyllis, Mary, and Peggy, and was graduated from Monticello High School and the University of Illinois. After graduation he served in World War II in the Pacific Theatre as an Army officer. He continued to serve for 24 years on active duty in the Army Reserves. After the war, he owned and operated Conard Grain Company, Marshfield, Ind. for 23 years. He attended Peachtree City United Methodist Church and was a life member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He retired in 1977 moving to Lady Lake Fla., and in 2005 they moved to Peachtree City. A celebration of life was held at the Peachtree City United Methodist Church with interment at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Maerene Conard, Peachtree City; children, Jeanne Conard Jones, Eberstadt, Germany, Nancy Harp, Normal, Ill., and Bruce Conard, Peachtree City; five grandchildren; a brother, Bill Conard, Danville, Ill.; and sisters, Frances and Pat Underwood, Chattanooga, Tenn., Barbara Elliott, Iowa City, Iowa, and Carol Hake, Belleville, Ill. Memorial donations may be made to the local chapters of the American Legion or VFW posts. Cremation Society of Georgia was in charge. login to post comments |
