Dysfunctional commission, get your act together

As a clinical social worker and a candidate for state House of Representatives, I feel I must step up to the plate and ask that our County Commissioners take another look at what they are about.

I attended a recent morning meeting the commissioners held and during a break I said to the chairman that I thought group therapy was in order. We laughed, but now I mean it.

I am greatly concerned for our community; there are so many vital decisions that need to take place to better us all. Instead, the county commission is caught up in defending their egos and territories and not looking at the broader picture.

This is the very reason why I and many others are so reticent to even put our hat into the ring to serve the people.

It appears that one loses their direction once they enter the political realm. They go in with all good intentions, but the ego takes over (which is ultimately about fear or loss) and they are truly blinded to the power they have to make a difference as only working as a team can fulfill.

I challenge our commissioners to do what it takes to heal any divide so that they can serve for the higher good. Fayette County needs your unity and sound judgment to make positive lasting decisions for our future.
