Covenant Presbyterian Church celebrates 30 years of ministry

Covenant Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville held a unique celebratory service this week to commemorate 30 years of ministry.

After a morning worship service filled with special music and praise, the church held a congregation-wide dinner followed by a special service in the afternoon. The event was attended by members from its many years of ministry.

The program included recognition of many of the original charter members who were present, letters of congratulations from other churches in the denomination, greetings from former pastors, a PowerPoint® presentation containing numerous photographs of church activities over the past 30 years, and testimonies of members who shared ways that the church and its congregation had ministered to them personally over the past three decades.

Covenant Presbyterian Church, which began as a Bible study in a rented storefront, has grown to a campus of 15 acres north of Kenwood Road on Ga. Hwy. 314 north of Fayetteville.

The Rev. Bob Edmiston, director of discipleship, gave a brief history and reminded everyone that in addition to its growth in its present location, the church has been directly involved in the planting of five other churches in the southern crescent of Atlanta.

The Rev. Tom Myers, senior pastor, closed the meeting with a challenge to “pursue the Great Commission through the authority and power that belongs to Jesus Christ and continuing vision to reach out and serve this community.”

Covenant Church is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America and holds both contemporary and traditonal services each Sunday morning. For further information, phone 770-460-9450, or visit www.covenantpres.net.
