Recent burglaries at residential construction sites in Fairburn were solved through the efforts of city police officers and detectives. College Park resident Marcellous Day, 23, is in custody on five charges. Day was charged with the Nov. 17 burglaries of three homes under construction on Shadow Creek Court in the Durham Lakes area, the Oct. 26 burglary of one of the same Shadow Creek houses and the March 7 burglary of a residential construction site on Muscadine Court, according to Det. Dave Bedford. “It was good police work by a young officer keeping his eyes open,” said Bedford of the officer who spotted a suspect vehicle that had been previously seen at a housing construction area. In the Nov. 17 burglaries of three houses on Shadow Creek Court, each of the sites sustained damage when forcible entry was made. Items taken from two of the houses included appliances valued at $3,900, according to police reports. On Oct. 26, Fairburn Police reported that one of the same houses, a model home, burglarized on Nov. 17 had been entered. Items stolen from the home were valued at $2,000 and included a color television, microwave and bed linens. Visible damage to the laundry room door frame was discovered along with damage to the kitchen wall that held the microwave, reports said. And on March 7, the contractor at the construction site reported that the garage door had been forced open and a microwave, range and dishwasher had been removed. The value of the appliances was reported to be $678, according to reports. Day is currently being held in Fulton County Jail. login to post comments |
