Concert to benefit Wellspring Living

There are only a few days left to purchase tickets to see Voices 2007: Canto ad una Terra: Song to One World. Voices opened last weekend to a rousing, enthusiastic audience. “The music presented in this show was nothing short of awesome,” said Ada Hewell.

“I wish there were more performances,” said Angela Papac as she waited in line after Saturday’s performance to purchase tickets for the Sept. 15 concert. “The talent alone would have been enough to make me want to see it again,” said Dave Page. “But add to that incredible talent the costumes, the staging, and the variety of music, and you’ve got a show that’s not to be missed.”

“We are so lucky to have an opportunity like this right here in our own backyard,” added Page’s wife, J.B.

The Sept. 15 concert benefits Wellspring Living (www.WellspringLiving.org), a local organization dedicated to helping young women find their way out of unhealthy behaviors. Wellspring provides a no-cost, residential program for women. Relying heavily on the generosity of the community and individual volunteers, Wellspring offers women a six-month intensive, therapeutic environment followed by supported transition during the last six months of the program. The structured daily program provides opportunity for holistic change, offering both group and individual sessions and activities dealing with the body, soul, and spirit.

Maria Pia Ugarte, founder of Voices and director of this year’s program, selected an eclectic mix of music – some you’ll recognize and be delighted to hear again, some you may not have heard but will want to hear again. There are pop classics such as “Dust in the Wind,” “What a Wonderful World,” “Colors of the Wind” and “Someday” as well as Christian contemporary favorites such as “Selah’s Rose of Bethlehem” and “On Eagle’s Wings” as well as the old familiar favorite “How Great Thou Art.” Other featured songs include “Any Dream Will Do” from Andrew Lloyd Weber’s “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” and special arrangements of beloved classical works such as Lakme’s “Flower Duet,” Dvorzak’s “New World Symphony” and Beethoven’s “Ninth Symphony – Ode to Joy.” The program also includes two Andrea Bocelli favorites “Miserere” and “Canto della Terra” as well as a new composition by Bob Smith called “24 Hours.”

Voices 2007: Canto ad una Terra: Song to One World, will be presented at the Legacy Theatre in Tyrone, Ga. on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased online by visiting www.VoicesOnline.org.

Don’t want to miss this celebration in song. Seating is limited, so pre-ordered tickets are suggested.
