We were glad to see your recent article, “Animal services director is picked for advisory board.“ Mr. Abi-Hassan has been instrumental in making many improvements to the Fayette County Animal Shelter. We would like to congratulate him on his appointment.

We would, however, like to clarify some statements in the article. It is very important to us that our donors know how their donations are used.

The Fayette County Humane Society, through generous donations from people in Fayette and surrounding counties, completely funded the addition of the skylights and a new ventilation system in the cat room.

We also paid for half of the new floor in the kennel area. The other half of the flooring was paid for by the Fayette County citizens (via approval from the Fayette County Commission).

We want to thank Mr. Abi-Hassan, the Fayette County citizens, and all the many people who have made donations to our organization. The Fayette County Animal Shelter is one of the best in the state and we are proud to be associated with the shelter.
