Bennie Reid Morris Sr., 77, Fayetteville, died Sept. 7, 2007. He was raised in Atlanta. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elisha and Annie Mae Morris, and a sister, Christine Spratlin. He served in the United States Army in World War II, and was stationed in Paris. He was an entrepreneur, owning five day-care centers until 1990. He lobbied diligently for child care laws and rights. In 1970 he moved his family to Fayetteville and his children were all graduated from the Fayette County schools. He was active in the Booster Club and the Fayette County Optimist Club for many years. He had great character and dignity, and was highly thought of by his peers and community. A memorial service is today, September 12, at the Carl J. Mowell chapel at 4 p.m. The Rev. John Prater will officiate. Survivors include his wife, Elaine C. Morris, Fayetteville; sons, Bennie R. and Kim Morris Jr., Tennessee, Randy and Sherri Morris, Fayetteville, and Ricky Morris, Hampton; daughters, Saundra and Albert Kellum, Senoia, and Becky and David Stoughton, Hampton; stepsons, Gary O'Bryan, Atlanta, and Wade and Christina O'Bryan, Fayetteville; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Jim and Monty Morris, Gay: and a sister, Bernice Woodham, Douglasville. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.
