A developer’s proposal to build a 89,000 square foot Kohl’s department store and other shops at Ga. Highway 54 West and Line Creek drive will be discussed by the Peachtree City Planning Commission tonight at 7.

The commission is not expected to vote on the proposal from Capital City Development, but it will be discussed during a workshop at the end of the meeting. As the property is currently configured, there’s not enough room for the Kohl’s, so developer Doug McMurrain has asked the City Council if he could either buy the streets — Line Creek Drive and Line Creek Court — or if he could swap the city other land in exchange for the streets.

McMurrain is calling the shopping center “Central Park at Line Creek.”

Last week in a special called meeting council agreed to consider such a deal, but a final vote on the matter will come at a later date.

The Kohl’s plan is being supported by neighbors in the adjacent Cardiff Park and Planterra Ridge subdivisions, whom McMurrain has worked with for over a year.

McMurrain has committed to making the development look like The Avenue, and the plan he has proposed includes several fountain areas and courtyards in addition to significant landscaping to screen the rear of the shopping center from Cardiff Park and adding landscaping to the Planterra Ridge entrance.
