Peachtree City will hold its annual Patriot Day celebration at Falcon Field Saturday, Sept. 15 at 10 a.m.

The event will be located next to the hangar housing the Dixie Wing of the Commemorative Air Force, which is located on Echo Court. Parking and seating will be limited, so the public is encouraged to carpool with others and bring folding chairs or other portable seating. Bleachers and chairs will be available, but officials are unsure about the potential crowd for the event.

The reason for being at Falcon Field is to hold the event in conjunction with the Georgia Military Vehicle Preservation Association’s fall rally, organizers said.

Also there will be a “Freedom Walk” even that starts at the intersection of TDK Boulevard and Dividend Drive, ending at the Patriot Day site also.

The one-hour ceremony will feature guest speaker Nicholas D. Snider, chairman and founder of the National Museum of Patriotism in Atlanta. He is a lifetime collector of patriotic artifacts and has written two books on the hobby. There will also be music provided by bands from Rising Starr and Whitewater middle schools.

Patriot Day was designated by a presidential proclamation as a day to remember those who were murdered by terrorists Sept. 11, 2001 and also to celebrate American patriotism.

Anyone interested in participating in the freedom walk should register by sending a message to ptcfreedomwalk@yahoo.com. Parking for the walk will be available in surrounding business parking lots at TDK Boulevard and Dividend Drive, and buses will shuttle people back to their cars.
