As the New Year approaches, it is time to reflect on the big news from 2005.

The Citizen will include Year in Review pages in upcoming editions of the paper and the Sports section is seeking suggestions of players, teams and coaches to mention, as well as pictures to complement the ones we have taken to go with these mentions.

While we will certainly honor the teams and individuals that have made their mark in regional and state competitions, we are looking for special achievements and memories from all games and all of the schools and teams that we cover. This is especially true for youth sports and middle school athletics, programs that we like to include in our pages but don’t have the man-power to cover on a weekly basis.

What was the best game you saw this year? Who gave the strongest individual performance? If you were giving out awards for the 2005 (winter, spring and fall) highlights, who would you mention?

Also, let us know what you think sports fans in Fayette and Coweta counties can expect to see in 2006. Send in your predictions and we’ll run them before the New Year begins.
