Mr. and Mrs. Eldon A Gresham Jr. of Peachtree City announce the engagement of their daughter, Laura Kathryn, to James Kevin Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Charles Smith of Savannah.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Gloria Crenshaw of College Station, Texas, and the late Dr. Walter E Crenshaw, and Afton Fletcher of Union City and the late Eldon A Gresham, Sr. She is a graduate of The University of Georgia, where she earned a bachelor of science in English education in 1996 and a master of social work in 2001. She is the director of domestic infant adoptions for Bethany Christian Services in Atlanta.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Nuell Harn of Savannah and the late Reginald Boyd Harn, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lloyd Smith. He is a graduate of The University of Georgia, where he earned a bachelor of arts in criminal justice in 1994, and Georgia State University, where he earned a bachelor of business administration in 2000. He is a systems support analyst with Atlantic Capital Bank in Atlanta.

An October wedding is planned in Savannah.
