Newnan's Chris O'Reilly

Chris O’Reilly, a senior at East Coweta High School, has been skating for seven years, and his success, specifically at a Free Flow Tour stop in Dallas, Texas, has qualified for the AST Dew Tours’ PlayStation Pro in Orlando in October. If O’Reilly wins the Free Flow Finals, he will win wildcard entry into the actual Playstation Pro and will compete against the world’s best vert skateboarders, people like Bucky Lasek and Shaun White.

The competitions involve two 45-second runs in both park and vert divisions, and O’Reilly was the overall winner in Dallas with what judges called a “smooth style and technical bag of tricks that no one could match.”

O’Reilly started competing locally soon after picking up a skateboard and has been traveling to compete for the last few years.
“The furthest I’ve traveled to compete is Amsterdam,” said O’Reilly, who also has competed in events in England.

O’Reilly plans to have a future in skateboarding and he considers his performance in Dallas one of his career highlights thus far. After graduation next spring, O’Reilly plans to move out to San Diego, which is big in the skateboarding industry.

The Free Flow Finals are Oct. 18-21 in Orlando and O’Reilly plans on competing in a number of other events this year.
