This weekend, local audiences will be treated to two concerts by one of the biggest bands of the ‘90s as Blues Traveler takes stage at The Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater. The band, which comes to Peachtree City as part of The Fred’s annual summer concert series, will perform at the outdoor venue on Friday, August 24 and Saturday, August 25 at 9 p.m. each night.

Formed in Princeton, N.J. in 1987, Blues Traveler rose to fame in 1994 with the release of their fourth studio album, aptly titled “Four.” The album produced the band’s two biggest hits, “Run-Around” and “Hook,” gaining them mainstream popularity. Blues Traveler won a Grammy award in 1996 for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal and boasts eight albums, six gold/ platinum plaques and sales of over 10 million discs.

Currently comprised of singer and harmonica expert John Popper, guitarist Chan Kinchla, drummer Brendan Hill, bassist Tad Kinchla and keyboardist Ben Wilson, the band, whose genre could best be described as alternative rock/blues rock/jam band, is known among fans for their live, improvisational shows.

Balancing renowned musicianship blended with pop hooks and blues and rock influenced grooves, Blues Traveler continues to entertain fans around the globe.

Opening for Blues Travelers at 8 p.m. is local Atlanta group the Aaron Faubli Band.
