One westbound lane of Ga. Highway 54 West in Fayetteville was shut down Thursday afternoon as emergency crews worked to contain a gasoline spill from a tanker truck, officials said.

The leak was a result of the weld breaking on a valve while the truck was being repositioned at the Flash Foods store at the intersection of Hwy. 54 and Gingercake Road, officials said.

The incident occurred just before 3:30 p.m.
