Fulton County Community Zoning Board sided with area residents Aug. 21 by recommending denial of proposals to construct 465 apartments and other residences and 26,000 square feet of retail on the already crowded Oakley Industrial Boulevard near Ga. Highway 138.

Oakley Township residents cited increasing traffic congestion, market saturation, potential problems from alcohol sales at restaurants and concerns about noise and rodents as reasons for the denials.

The proposals will be heard by Fulton County Board of Commissioners Sept. 5.
