Canongate Golf Clubs is pleased to announce the completion of a $3.5 million renovation of Whitewater Creek Country Club in Fayetteville, Georgia. August 15 was the opening day of play on the recently renovated greens at Whitewater Creek Country Club in Fayetteville, Georgia. The 18-hole Arnold Palmer design has been undergoing significant upgrade since Canongate purchased the facility in late 2005. The latest course projects have also included installation of drainage and new sand in all bunkers, leveling of tees, newly appointed tee signs and cart path upgrades. This summer’s upgrade effort was the final stage of two years of repairs and replacement to all aspects of the private club. Within the last eighteen months, the golf cart fleet has been upgraded as well as GPS added. The outdoor Pavilion has new vinyl siding and remodeled restrooms. Another major project involved a redesign and expansion of the driving range, along with newly appointed amenities. The Southern charm of the clubhouse has long made it a popular choice for brides in the area, but inquiries have increased since 2005 based on the interior facelift. The ballroom at Whitewater seats 150 for events, and showcases new flooring, paint, window treatments, tables and chairs, along with a spectacular view of the course from the verandah. Receptions at Whitewater not only benefit from the spacious and beautifully appointed ballroom, but many brides also choose to have their complete ceremony onsite either in the foyer of the club or on the verandah. The club also has options for smaller groups, from the Wisteria Dining Room to the newly constructed Meeting and Conference Room, and member dining is available for breakfast and lunch daily. According to General Manager Tim Dunlap, “the last 18 months have been about creating a Whitewater Creek experience our members and guests will remember and keep coming back for. After researching several varieties of grass, Whitewater Creek elected to make the conversion to Champion Bermuda. Released in 1995, Champion is very heat tolerant and allows for lower mowing heights, producing a quicker putting surface for the golfer. These attributes have made it a popular choice for new courses and course renovations in the metro Atlanta area, including Berkeley Hills Country Club in Duluth. While the variety originated in Texas, it now boasts 335 courses in 16 different states. According to Head Golf Professional Joe Russello, “it has been very rewarding to see the transformation of the property from what it was when Canongate purchased the club almost two years ago to now. The members are so complimentary of the changes, and they take pride in what Whitewater Creek has become.” |
