John S. Ronas

John S. Ronas, Major, United States Army, retired, 84, Jonesboro, died Aug. 10, 2007. He was born May 28, 1923 in Theresa, N.Y. He made the army a career and retired as a major with 20 years of service. He served in World War II and the Korean War, and settled in Fayetteville upon retirement. He had faithfully delivered more than a million copies of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution over 26 years. He was a Mason for over 50 years. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Gregory Hicks officiating. Military graveside services were at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. Survivors include his wife, Mary "Dee" Ronas, Jonesboro; a son, Mark and Cathy Ronas, Harpers Ferry. W.Va.; daughters, Tania and Gary Uram, Omaha, Neb., Mignon and Bill Duggan, Fayetteville, and Melanie and Greg Hicks, Dallas, Ga.; and grandchildren, Micah Uram, Stuart Uram, Elena Uram, Brett Uram, Katie Duggan, Laura Hicks, Candace Hicks, Ben Hicks, and Brittany Ronas. Memorial donations may be made to Southwest Christian Care, 7225 Lester Rd., Union City, GA 30291. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.
