There is a lot to be done in a new city between elections in November and the start-up of municipal operations December 1. It is within that short time window that Chattahoochee Hills Organizing Committee is recommending that the new mayor and city council select Denver-based utility, public works and municipal operations company CH2M HILL OMI (Operations Management International) to help design, implement and operate the municipal services.

With approximately 140 members, the Chatt Hills Organizing Committee in 2006 spearheaded the effort to bring the new city of Chattahoochee Hill Country into existence. That effort culminated in June with a landslide vote to formally establish the new city. Continuing their work, the organizing committee recently entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with CH2M HILL OMI to recommend the firm to city leaders once elected. The MOU has no binding contract.

“We’ve analyzed the data, toured other CH2M HILL OMI-operated cities, and done our homework. We believe this partnership is the best way to provide reliable, high-quality service and lower costs for the citizens of Chattahoochee Hill Country,” says Tom Reed, president of the Chatt Hills Organizing Committee. “We also know CH2M HILL OMI has the unique people and process skills necessary to get our city services up and running within the next four months.”

CH2M HILL OMI provides custom-tailored operations and maintenance solutions and was hired by the recently incorporated cities of Sandy Springs, John’s Creek and Milton. The company’s services include water and wastewater system optimization, contract operations and management of water, wastewater and other utilities. The company also provides complete municipal operations, including administration, public works and community development. Founded by CH2M HILL in 1980, the Denver-based company serves clients in more than 30 U.S. States, Canada and Puerto Rico. An employee-owned company with more than 19,000 employees, CH2M HILL is a $5 billion global company providing engineering, construction, operations and technical services.
