By: The Citizen
Canine Assistants, a non-profit organization that raises and trains service dogs for children and adults with physical disabilities, seizure disorders or other special needs, is seeking volunteers from the Peachtree City area to help raise awareness about service dogs and disabilities. Volunteers would be trained to do presentations, animal assisted therapy, disability awareness programs in schools and fund raising to benefit Canine Assistants. Although the facility is in Alpharetta, Ga., there are over 600 recipients in 48 states nationwide. The National Volunteer Program, Noah’s Team, currently serves 12 cities across the country with over 50 volunteers. At this time, Canine Assistants welcomes inquiries about launching a Noah’s Team of Georgia in the Peachtree City area. Canine Assistants trains dogs to help special people; volunteers can help make a difference in their community and help change the life of a person in need. Please contact Sue Harrison, director of National Volunteer Services and Noah’s Team at: sharrison@canineassistants.com for more information about this program or to request a presentation about Canine Assistants.
