Georgia Southern University recently awarded local students scholarships. Area recipients include Kathryn Carter, of Fayetteville, membership in the COBA Corporate Leadership Council; Jonathan Jaurigue, of Fayetteville, $4,000 President’s Scholarship; Andrew McColister, of Fayetteville, membership in the COBA Corporate Leadership Council; and Rachel Nelson, of Tyrone, $2,000 President’s Scholarship.

Membership in the COBA Corporate Leadership Council (CLC) in the College of Business Administration not only includes a scholarship, but also the opportunity for both scholarly and professional benefits that sets the recipient apart from other business students. Members will interact with business faculty from the Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership and with executives from many well-known companies. As a CLC Scholar, members will also act as an ambassador for the College of Business and become involved with many outreach activities and special events.

The President’s Scholarship is awarded to incoming freshmen, transfer and international students who have a minimum SAT of 1200 and minimum grade point average of 3.2. The selection is made based on a strong academic record in high school, leadership experience and extracurricular involvement.
