• McAbee graduates from basic military training Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Justin A. McAbee has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations. In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force. McAbee earned distinction as an honor graduate. He is the son of Nancy and Wallace McAbee of Fayetteville, Ga. and a 2003 graduate of Fayette County High School, Fayetteville. • Etterman completes basic training Pfc. Andrew Etterman recently completed basic training at the Marine Corp Recruit Depot located on Parris Island, S.C. Etterman successfully completed 12 weeks of training designed to challenge new Marine recruits both physcially and mentally. Etterman and his fellow recruits began their training each day at 5 a.m. by running three miles and performing calistenics. In addition to the physical conditioning program, recruits spent numerous hours in classroom and field assignments, which included learning first aid, uniform regulations, combat water survival, marksmanship, hand-to-hand combat and assorted weapons training. Etterman also received instructions on the Marine Corps' core values, honor, courage and commitment. Etterman and fellow recruits ended the training phase with the Crucible, a 54 hour team effort and problem solving evaulation. After graduation from Parris Island, he will be stationed at Camp Lejeune, N.C. for combat training, after which he will begin specialized training in Virginia. Etterman is a 2001 graduate of McIntosh High School, Peachtree City and is the son of Laurel Cantlon. • Braxton graduates with honors Jasmine Arlena Braxton, the daughter of Shawn Braxton of Peachtree City and Sheri Ingram of Greensboro, N.C., was selected as valedictorian of the class of 2007 at James B. Dudley High School in Greensboro, N.C. She had a four year grade point average of 4.71 and received several scholarships and awards, the most notable being the New York University J. Eckhouse and Steinhardt scholarships, the Sam Walton Community Scholarship, and the United States Marine Corp Band Award for Outstanding Scholarship in Music. She was also named Band Member of the Year. She will attend New York University where she will study music business. • Miller graduates from law school Cynthia L. Miller of Peachtree City recently graduated from Seton Hall Law School in Newark, N.J. She received a master of jurist doctorate degree and the Advanced Legal Writing award. Miller is a 1999 graduate of McIntosh High School and in 2003 she graduated summa cum laude from the University of Georgia, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa Society. She is the daughter of Donald and Barbara Miller of Peachtree City. login to post comments |
