Vida Benton, 85, Fayetteville, died Aug. 9, 2007. She was born Dec. 6, 1921 in Pierce County, Ga. She retired from the Fayette County School system having taught chemistry for 22 years. She then served as a missionary for 23 years all over the United States and the South Pacific. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with evangelists Joe Johnson and Jeff Wilder officiating. Interment was at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. Survivors include her husband, William F. Benton, Fayetteville; sons, Wayne and Barbara Benton, Senoia, and Larry and Pamela Benton, McMurray, Pa.; daughter, Debra Davis, Griffin; grandchildren; Micah Davis, Thomas Davis, Seth Davis, Jennifer Benton, and Scott Benton; a great-granddaughter, Aubrey Davis; a sister, Kathleen Bowen, Newport, N.C.; and sister-in-law, Correll Fuller, Newnan. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.
