The Up the Creek softball tournament unofficially kicks off the softball season for local teams each year. It has become a favorite for players, who get to square off against their friends on other local teams and for fans who like to see competitive softball in their own backyard.

The tournament gets underway at McCurry Park this Friday, and this year’s lineup is among the best in the history of the tournament. All five high schools from Fayette County are participating this year, as are the three county high schools from Coweta County. In addition to those eight teams, squads from Chapel Hill, Pike County, Northside, Warner Robins, Blessed Trinity, Mary Persons, Brantley and Jones County fill out the pools.

Medal rounds will be played at 3:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
First-place games will be played on Field 3, second place on Field 4, third place on Field 5, fourth place on Field 6 and fifth place on Field 7.
