Former Fayetteville resident, Mike Harris, a 1997 graduate of Sandy Creek High School, recently graduated from Officer Candidate School in Quantico, Va. Mike is now a Staff Sergeant and a MECEP (Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program) Marine beginning his senior year at The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. Upon completing his degree in International Politics at The Citadel, he will be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Marine Corps.

SSgt Harris is also currently working to earn his private pilot's license and has applied to flight school in the Marine Corps.

Mike and his wife, Rachel, are expecting their second daughter in March. SSgt Harris is the son of Dave and Glenda Harris.
