Voices of Christ Literary Ministries International (VOC), formerly the Voices of Christ Prophetic Poetry Team, will host the “2007 Christian Prophetic Writer’s Retreat: The Season of the Scribe,” Aug. 16-19 at the Calvin Center in Hampton.

The purpose of the retreat is to nurture the “heart of God” in poets, spoken word artists, playwrights, songwriters, novelists, children’s authors and other Christian creative writers.

The four-day retreat will feature two live open mic sessions, one at the beginning of the retreat and a live recorded session for broadcasting at the event’s close.

Writers also will participate in a worship arts roundtable that focuses on the role of creative writing in the worship arts; an in-depth critique session; multiple sessions on developing; publishing and numerous training and activation sessions.

While the presenters often lecture, those present will participate in numerous interactive activities.
