Local students receive scholarships

Georgia Southern University recently awarded local students scholarships.

Following is a list of area recipients: Andrew Coffman, of Fayetteville, $2,000 Regents Scholarship; Jessica Fortner, of Fayetteville, $1,000 Southern LEAD Scholarship; Andrea Johns, of Fayetteville, $1,000 Southern LEAD Scholarship; Kelsey Johnson, of Fayetteville, $1,000 Southern LEAD Scholarship; Taylor Koren, of Fayetteville, $1,000 Southern LEAD Scholarship; Bradley Langston, of Fayetteville, $1,000 Southern LEAD Scholarship; Trevor Martin, of Fayetteville, $4,000 President’s Scholarship; Ryan Stubbs, of Peachtree City, $4,000 President’s Scholarship.

The Regents Scholarship is awarded to incoming freshmen, transfer and international students with a minimum SAT score of 1200 and grade point average of 3.2. The selection is based on a strong high school academic record, leadership experience and extracurricular involvement.

The Southern LEAD Scholarship is awarded to incoming freshmen with a minimum SAT score of 1000 and grade point average of 3.0. The award is based on outstanding leadership experience and extracurricular activities.

The President’s Scholarship is awarded to incoming freshmen, transfer and international students who have a minimum SAT of 1200 and minimum grade point average of 3.2. The selection is made based on a strong academic record in high school, leadership experience and extracurricular involvement.
