Stop by to see the ‘Doctor’ this weekend

The Newnan Theatre Company enters the second weekend of their production, “Playing Doctor,” this Friday night at the Coweta theater.

This Artist Series show is a hilarious comedy written by the comedy duo William Van Zandt and Jane Milmore. This comedy of deception, mistaken identities, and surprises revolves around Rob Brewster, a struggling young writer. Rob’s parents paid for him to attend medical school, but instead he majored in journalism, but told his parents he had indeed become a doctor with a flourishing practice. When mom and dad pop in for a visit, Rob enlists the help of several friends to convince his parents he is in fact a doctor – with hilarious results.

Directed by Dave Hanson, “Playing Doctor,” which opened July 19, will play July 27-29 and Aug. 2-4. Shows begin at 8 p.m., with Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m.

This production is presented in the company’s black box theatre space and seating is limited.
