Alva N. Pankey, 86, Peachtree City, formerly of Dalton, died July 21, 2007. She was born June 3, 1921 in Hamilton County, Tenn., the daughter of Homer and Rena Williams. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Walter F. Pankey Jr., sons, Phillip Pankey and Douglas Pankey, a daughter, Carolyn Sue Pankey, a grandson, Jimmy Dickey; and sisters, Inez Harwood, and Mary Ann Williams. She was the mother of nine children and touched many lives with her words of wisdom and faith in God. Services were at the Love Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Roy Padgett Jr., and the Rev. Kelly Runyan officiating. Interment was at West Hill Cemetery, Dalton. Survivors include her children, Fred Pankey and fiancée, Faye Hall, Duluth, Jan and Buddy Levens, Atlanta, Rosemary and Bill Dickey, Fayetteville, Joe Pankey, Peachtree City, Greg Pankey, Tyrone, and Cindy and Gary Stansbury, Battletown, Ky.; daughters-in-law, Deanne Pankey, Tennessee, and Judy Pankey, Gulf Breeze, Fla.; 25 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; four nephews; and two nieces.
