Palmetto police are searching for two men who may be connected to two recent armed robberies.

One of the men, said Det. John Cooper, is a black male thought to be in his early twenties. The man is dark-skinned with a thin build and approximately 5’10” to 6’0” in height. The other man, also a black male, is believed to be in his early twenties with a thin build and approximately 5’8” to 5’10” in height.

The most recent armed robbery occurred Nov. 28 at Peach Mart Convenience Store on Fayetteville Road. Police responded to a call at 7:59 p.m., where they received reports that the clerk had been held at gunpoint by one of the perpetrators while a second man walked behind the counter and emptied the cash drawer, Cooper said. The man also took the handgun from the holster the clerk was wearing, Cooper added. The store clerk was not injured during the robbery, he said.

Cooper said the men fled on foot with a undisclosed amount of cash, heading west toward Main Street. He said one of the men was wearing a skeleton mask while the other wore a cloth around his face.

A previous armed robbery occurred Nov. 5 at Advanced Auto Parts on Roosevelt Highway, Cooper said, when two men wearing skeleton masks entered the store at approximately 8:50 p.m. One of the men ordered one of the clerks to give him the money from the cash drawer while the other man held the manager at gunpoint, ordering him to open the store’s safe, according to Cooper. The men subsequently fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash, he said.

The man carrying the handgun wore black and white fatigue-type pants, brown boots and a skeleton mask, said Cooper, while the other perpetrator wore black and white pants, a dark shirt and a latex skeleton mask.
