A Union City man was found dead Monday night by motorists outside Palmetto. A car thought to be connected to the homicide was found a short time later in a Palmetto apartment complex.

The body of 30-year-old Jermaine Q. Bowlds was found at approximately 11 p.m. lying at the intersection of Ono Road and Wilkerson Mill Road near Palmetto, according to Fulton County Police spokesman Officer Gary Syblis. Bowlds had been shot in the head, Syblis said, adding that window glass and blood were also found on the roadway.

At approximately 11:30 p.m. Palmetto Officer Ron Stripling and Officer Richard Cheek responded to a call concerning a suspicious vehicle parked at Pine Grove Apartments on Carlton Road, according to Det. John Cooper. Upon arriving, officers found a 1992 Ford Crown Victoria with the headlights on. They approached the vehicle and found the driver’s side window shattered and observed glass and a significant amount of blood in the driver’s seat along with some splattered blood in the passenger’s side of the car, Cooper said. The car, Cooper confirmed, belonged to Bowlds.

Cooper said the incident was reported to Fulton County Police and was later released for processing.

Anyone with information relating to the case is asked to contact Fulton County Police Det. G. Kalish at 404-699-4210 ext. 609 or Det. D. Romero at 404-699-4210 ext. 611.
