On April 10, the Newnan Kiwanis presented local high school students with “A” awards to honor them for their academic achievement through the school year. The event was held at the Coweta County Fairgrounds, and lunch was provided by Chick-fil-A.

Reverend Jimmy Patterson, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Newnan, spoke to the students, encouraging them to give glory to God by continuing to perform quality work and reach out to others throughout their lives. Kiwanis member Cherie Bell announced the students from the Heritage School, East Coweta High School, Newnan High School and Northgate High School as they received their framed awards.

Other recent presentations at the Newnan Kiwanis meetings include Sherie Pepper of CASA on April 17 and Wendee Miller of the Newnan-Coweta Historical Society on May 1. The Newnan Kiwanis Club meets every Tuesday for lunch, 12-1 p.m., at the Special Events Center, 299 Bullsboro Drive in Newnan.
