FCHS alum Bynum named Co-Athlete of the Year once again at Tennessee Tech

Bonnie Bynum, a Fayette County high School graduate and pitcher for Tennessee Tech, once again was a co-recipient of the Female Athlete of the Year Award at the school.

Bynum ended the 2007 campaign with a 34-12 record in 52 appearances, throwing 33 complete games and 11 shutouts. She posted a 1.50 earned run average on the season, allowing 65 earned runs in 302 2/3 innings pitched. She struck out 330 of the 1,110 batters faced and held her opponents to a paltry .203 batting average.

In her career, Bynum has a combined 103-45 record in 193 games, throwing 1,021 strikeouts in her career. Bynum also threw six no-hitters in her tenure, including two in 2007 (against Bradley and Southeast Missouri).

One of the most dominant pitchers in Ohio Valley Conference history, Bynum also ranked nationally in all four seasons played with the Golden Eagles, ending 2007 with a seventh place finish in victories, 37th in earned run average and 60th in strikeouts per seven innings with a 7.6 strikeout average.
