The Creekside High School hoops season is underway and this year’s teams are rallying for more support from fans. Throught the basketball season there will be a series of activities that will include student and community support as the Seminoles take on their challengers in “The Swamp.”

To kick off their 4-2 season, the first activity for the CHS Tip-Off Club for girls basketball is “Family and Friends Day,” on Saturday, Dec. 10 beginning at noon with the ninth grade girls game. The event lasts until the end of the varsity boys game, which begins at 7:30 p.m.

The basketball teams are asking that all of their friends and family members come out to cheer them to victory as they take on the Banneker Trojans.

The girls basketball team participated in a community service project this week on campus by collecting unwanted sneakers during the school’s lunch periods.

The sneakers donation will benefit student athletes in Africa who practice and play basketball without wearing shoes. The team estimated that by the end of the week they will have collected enough sneakers for at at least 100 people.

The non-profit organization Hoops 4 Hope has brought attention to the situation in Africa and it supports many causes such as this one. If anyone is interested in participating, visit www.HoopsAfrica.org.
