Brooks hosting big-time 11-12 little league state tournament

The top 11- to 12-year-old Little League teams in Georgia are facing off in Brooks starting Saturday morning in the annual state tournament.

The winner will advance to a regional tournament in Florida with a chance at advancing to the Little League World Series in Williamsport,
Penn.

One of the nine teams in the tournament is the Peachtree City National Little League squad. They will be competing with teams from Buckhead, Warner Robins, Columbus (American), Oconee (American), Cedartown, Belvedere, Elbert County
and Toccoa.

The action starts Saturday with opening ceremonies at 9 a.m. and the first game starting at 10 a.m, with Elbert County facing Belvedere. Peachtree City’s squad will face Buckhead at noon.

The championship game is scheduled for Friday, July 27 at 7 p.m.

All games will be played in Brooks.
Each of the teams will be hosted at a special dinner banquet Friday night at New Hope Baptist Church just south of Peachtree City.

In addition to the baseball action there will be other entertainment at the tournament including the “Guitar Car” from the Guitars Not Guns music program, which provides guitars and lessons to foster kids, at-risk youth and deserving children.

Last year the Columbus, Ga. Little League team won the Little League World Series championship game.
