We lack ‘Northern sensibility’? No wonder Dems keep losing hereTue, 07/17/2007 - 4:13pm

It is not often that I feel inclined to write a letter to the editor, but after reading the front page story about Democrats in your paper last week, I feel I must rebut some of the foolish statements made by the quoted Democrats in the article. One candidate who lost said that Southerners lacked the “Northern sensibility.” It is no wonder that he lost tossing about such insulting remarks to the people around here. I am a Southerner by choice, not by birth. I have lived other places and was born in another country, but I find Fayette County the best place I have ever lived. This did not happen by chance. It happened by the conservative, good leadership of Republicans, not by Democrats. The insulting statements made by Democrats in this article just proves why most of us around here vote Republican. Many of us did come from other places and treasure our place here. We are conservative, hard-working people who do not have the “sheep” mentality. We are individual thinkers. We don’t need the union boss to tell us how to vote and live our lives. We judge candidates and elected officials for ourselves. Fayette County is a special place. We don’t need pro-choice, pro-gay, pro-union, anti-family Democrats to change our way. Just look at the behavior of the few Democrats who represent small portions of this county. That is enough to tell us how the others would act if elected. No thanks. I wonder when your paper is going to give some front page space to the Republicans.
