David Alexander Herrmann reached the rank of Eagle Scout and was presented with this award on April 15. Special guests included the Reverends Chuck Hodges, Betsy Haas, Sean Robinson and Mr. Brian Loper, all of Peachtree City United Methodist Church. Herrmann is a member of Troop 209, sponsored by St. Andrew's in the Pines, and led by retired Lt. Col. David Dale. Herrmann joined the Boy Scouts of America in 1996 as a Tiger Scout with Pack 75, sponsored by Peachtree City United Methodist Church and had his crossover to Troop 209 in February of 2000. As a member of Troop 209, he earned 29 merit badges, served in four leadership positions, and earned three religious awards. In addition to numerous hiking and camping outings with Troop 209, he was able to participate in two camping expeditions to Philmont Scouting ranch and served as the crew leader his second time out. His Eagle project involved planning, building, volunteer recruitment, and obtaining the funds for an 80 foot by 4 foot retaining wall for a Southern Crescent Habitat for Humanity building site. This project allowed Habitat for Humanity to receive a certificate of occupancy for the site to complete a subdivision project. Herrmann is a 2007 graduate of Starr's Mill High School and a recipient of the Crosswalk Student Ministry Youth Leadership Scholarship from Peachtree City United Methodist Church. He will be attending Kennesaw State University in the fall. login to post comments |
