The Marquis De LaFayette Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution celebrated its fifth year by thanking Heritage Bank’s Fayetteville branch for providing a monthly meeting place since their founding. The chapter presented the bank with a certificate of appreciation and an engraved statue of the liberty bell as a token of their appreciation and community partnership. “Heritage Bank is committed to the communities we serve, and the De LaFayette chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution serves our community,” said Leonard Moreland, CEO of Heritage Bank. “Hosting your meetings is our way of supporting your chapter’s patriotic service to Southern Crescent communities. From honoring our best citizens and public servants, to teaching our children to be good citizens and leaders and remembering our fallen heroes, your chapter is an asset to our community. So it is our honor to receive this award from you.” About 70 chapter members participate in various patriotic and civic activities throughout the metro and Southern Crescent area. Activities range from marking the graves of patriots and volunteering at the veterans hospital to mentoring and recognizing interns, R.O.T.C members and Eagle Scouts to supporting community charities and schools. The active volunteers also welcome new citizens, participate in patriotic parades and honor our public servants. Each meeting features a speaker knowledgeable about the Revolution, American history, wars or genealogy. The Marquis De LaFayette chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, which draws members from Fayette, Coweta, Clayton and Henry counties, meets at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at Heritage Bank, 440 N. Jeff Davis Dr., Fayetteville. Visitors, including women and children, are welcome. For more information, visit www.lafayettesar.org. login to post comments |
