Georgia Army National Guard Cpl. Tom Andris of Peachtree City (left), a rifleman with Covington’s Company B, 1st Battalion, 121st Infantry, watches as Command Sgt. Maj. Calvin Wilcox collects shell casings during the battalion’s two-week annual training. Andris is among the more than 200 Guardsmen who are participating in Patriot 07, a national training exercise that tests the 1-121’s ability to conduct its homeland defense mission as Georgia’s National Guard Reaction Force. When he’s not in uniform, Andris is a full-time student at Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville where he studies political science.
