U.S. Rep. Lynn Westmoreland will host a town hall meeting Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce to educate and assist seniors seeking help choosing a prescription drug plan under Medicare. Sign up has begun and benefits are set to begin Jan. 1, 2006.

Westmoreland will host officials from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, who'll help Medicare recipients sign up for the drug benefit.

"There's been a lot of discussion about the difficulty of picking the right plan when there are so many choices," Westmoreland said. "This is a chance for residents of the 8th Congressional District to get help from experts and get signed up before the deadline. Current recipients have until May 15th to sign up or there's a penalty added to their premiums, so I'd encourage seniors in Fayette County to take advantage of this opportunity."
