• Burdg graduates from UGA

Jinee Burdg graduated this spring from the University of Georgia. She will be going to the University of Maryland for an intership to become a registered dietician. Burdg is a graduate of Starr’s Mill High School and has been a resident of Peachtree City for nearly 15 years. She is the daughter of Tom and Kathy Burdg.

• Keaton honored with national awards

The United States Achievement Academy recently announced that Nathan Hill Keaton of Fayetteville has been named an All-American At-Large award winner and a a United States national award winner in Mathematics. The academy selects All-American Scholar winners based on the Standards of Selection set forth by the academy. The criteria for selection are a student’s grade point average, student achievements, and a well-balanced schedule of academics and extracurricular activities. Rhonda McCreary, a teacher at Whitewater High School, nominated Hill for the mathematics award. The academy selects winners upon the exclusive recommendation of teachers, coaches, counselors, and other qualified sponsors and upon the Standards of Selection set forth by the academy. Hill is a 2007 graduate of Whitewater High School. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Keaton, and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Dettmering and Mr. and Mrs. Bryon Keaton.

• Peachtree City resident graduates from OBU

Lindsey Anne Brown, of Peachtree City, Ga., received her bachelor’s degree during Oklahoma Baptist University’s 2007 spring commencement on Saturday, May 19, in the university’s Raley Chapel. Brown recently received the Outstanding Accounting Graduate Award from the university’s Paul Dickinson School of Business. The award was presented by Roger Flint, OBU associate professor of accounting, and Dr. Bill Chapman, OBU professor of accounting. Brown was included on Oklahoma Baptist University’s academic honor rolls for the spring 2007 semester. Brown graduated with a degree in professional accountancy. She was one of 258 graduates recognized at OBU’s 2007 spring commencement.

• Pirani awarded at Valdosta State

Valdosta State University’s Harley Langdale Jr. College of Business Administration honored Evyn S. Pirani, of Peachtree City, with the Outstanding Senior Marketing Major Award.

• Local student receives scholarship

Georgia Southern University has awarded Ryan Stubbs, of Peachtree City, a $4,000 President’s Scholarship. The President’s Scholarship is available to incoming freshmen, transfer and international students who have a minimum SAT of 1200 and minimum grade point average of 3.2. The selection is made based on a strong academic record in high school, leadership experience and extracurricular involvement. Stubbs is a recent graduate of McIntosh High School.
