Pioneers take several first place finishes at 2007 AAU National Club Championships

McIntosh’s Hughston Taylor, a member of the SouthSide Pioneers, placed first in the 100-meter dash, young men’s division at the 2007 AAU National Club Championships in Orlando, Fla., with a time of 11.00.

His teammate, Michael Dehaven, a recent Sandy Creek graduate with a track scholarship to Auburn University, placed first in the 200-meter dash, young men’s division with a time of 21.45.
SouthSide’s Vince Brown (McIntosh) placed third in the 800- meter run, young men’s division with a time of 1:58.83.

The Pioneer’s relay team of Dehaven, Taylor, Brendan Fludd and Chris Pigue placed first overall in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:27.71 and placed second overall in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 43.00.

The Southside Pioneers Young Men also took third place overall in their division for the whole meet.

These stellar athletes have all qualified for the 2007 AAU Junior Olympic Games in Knoxville, Tenn., July 27-Aug. 4.
