More commercial development headed for TyroneMon, 07/09/2007 - 8:39am

Another of the Olde Towne Tyrone projects moved a step closer to reality June 28 as Tyrone Planning Commission heard and signed off on the conditions related to the approval of the final site plan for Lot #9. The issue was continued from May. The preliminary site plan for the 14,858 square-foot commercial building planned for Lot #9 was approved in May. Developers agreed with the conditions accompanying the approval and were asked to return this month to further address those conditions. Conditions included adding a multi-use path on the 2.32-acre site, installing a pedestrian walkway for the parallel parking spaces to be located along Tyrone-Palmetto Road, installing sidewalks at the entrance and in the rear of the building, adding a dumpster area and exterior lighting to the plans. As planned, the total project includes nine buildings on 11.64 acres. Previously approved for recommendation by commissioners, Lots #2-8 are situated on 7.3 acres between Swanson Road and the privately-maintained Old Towne Avenue. Plans call for the construction of seven buildings of approximately 5,200 square feet. Also at the meeting, a recommendation for approval of the site plan for Lot #4 at Grove Park Commons office commercial development on Handley Road came after a motion asking the town council to consider a traffic study of the intersection of Palmetto-Tyrone Road and Handley Road. Commissioners were concerned that the development would only add to the already increasing traffic congestion. login to post comments |
