The 2007 football season is on its way and there are many preparations to be made for players, coaches, fans and media.

The Citizen is already working on our 2007 football section and planning our coverage. This year we would like to offer comprehensive coverage of football all the way from youth league to pro and we need your help.

Youth and middle school teams

We want your registration dates, camp and practice photos, season schedules and results. You can either e-mail them to sports@thecitizen.com or guarantee immediate coverage on our web site by posting them at www.thecitizen.com.

It’s as easy as registering for a user name (don’t worry, we don’t ask for personal information and you won’t be hassled with telemarketers or junk e-mail) and then posting all the information you’d like.

High school teams

While we have your schedules and will be out at practices, jamborees and games, we can’t make all of them, so help us fill in the gaps. Send us your pictures, players of note and recruiting news.

Also, feel free to post your booster club information (meetings, fundraisers, sponsorship opportunities). All of this information can be e-mailed to sports@thecitizen.com or posted at www.thecitizen.com once you register for a username.

Another bonus of being a registered user at www.thecitizen.com is you’ll be able to start and/or participate in conversations about your favorite teams and players. Our website is the place to talk and learn about high school football.

College football

Each year, The Citizen lets everyone know how our former players are doing, so we need an up to date list of all the area high school’s alumni playing on the college gridiron. Send us the names, positions and colleges of all the local players you know about and they will be covered this fall.

In addition to this, our website is a great place to brag on your alma mater or favorite college team, make your predictions and talk a bunch of good-natured smack. It’s never too early to start, so get on www.thecitizen.com today.

Pro football

We have some local guys on pro squads this year, so we’ll be letting our readers know how they are doing in training camps and pre-season, as well as in the regular season, but if you have an opinion on the Falcons or any NFL team, let it out on our website.

Our staff writers are huge football fans and are ready to go toe-to-toe with all of our readers, play Monday Morning Quarterback and discuss every facet of the game.

Football season is an exciting time in Georgia and it is just around the corner.

Let’s get the ball rolling.
