Dr. James Tabor will be returning to Peachtree City for the first ever Peachtree City Literary Festival, to be held July 27-29.

Last year, Tabor’s visit drew over 200 people and Books-A-Million sold out of his books. This year he plans to discuss the famed Talpiot tomb located just south of Jerusalem and the topic of the recent Discovery Channel documentary, “The Lost Tomb of Jesus.” Tabor was one of the experts that appeared in the film.

Tabor’s book, “The Jesus Dynasty,” is now available in paperback with a new epilogue and update regarding the tomb. Tabor will in town on Saturday, July 28, at 7 p.m.

Also slated to appear at the festival is author Sharyn McCrumb. Steeped in Appalachian folklore, her books are haunting and leave a lasting impression on readers long after they’ve been read.
The movie option for McCrumb’s book, “The Rosewood Casket,” was recently acquired by LizCat Films and casting is currently underway.

McCrumb’s newest novel, “Once Around the Track,” is about an all-woman NASCAR team that hires a “pretty” male driver. Her website cautions readers that it is not a sports book, but a story about people’s need for heroes. McCrumb will be at the festival on Saturday, July 28 at 2 p.m.

The event will also feature an open-mic night with local poets to kick-off the festival on Friday, a discussion panel of local authors, workshops for aspiring writers, and a Friends of the Library book sale. The official schedule of events will be announced in June.
